Fraud Detection

Blocking sites with undesirable keywords is one thing. Blocking sites that engage in dangerous, unethical, sometimes illegal activity is quite another. That’s why AdSafe makes fraud detection a top priority.

In fact, AdSafe recently uncovered a fraud ring and was featured in The Wall Street Journal.

Most of the sites we block aren’t on that scale. These are the major fraud categories we look for:

Malware

Software that is intended to damage or disable computers and computer systems.

Spyware

Software that self-installs on a computer, enabling information to be gathered covertly about a person's Internet use, passwords, etc.

Phishing

a way of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an email.

Adware

Any software that automatically plays, displays or downloads advertisements to a computer. These ads can be in the form of a pop-up. They may also be in the user interface of the software or on a screen presented to the user during the installation process. The object of the Adware is to generate revenue for its author. Adware, by itself, is harmless; however, some adware may come with integrated spyware such as keyloggers and other privacy-invasive software.
