Fred Destin
Fred Destin is a partner at Atlas Venture, focusing on webservices and consumer facing innovation. He's also on the board of Seedcamp, an active blogger, a startup mentor and an angel investor.
For Atlas, he led investments in companies such as DailyMotion (the European leader in video sharing), Seatwave (a large live events ticket marketplace), Zoopla (a disruptive online real estate play) and Kinvey (a mobile cloud service). Fred moved to the US in 2010 and AdSafe Media was his first US investment. In his ten years in venture, he also invested or served on the board of PriceMinister (acquired by Rakuten), Rainfinity (acquired by EMC), CapitalIQ (acquired by S&P) and Xerox-PARC spinoff Inxight Software (acquired by BOBJ).
Fred writes a candid blog at freddestin.com, where he attempts to share how VCs think about the business of funding innovation, and is a long-serving board member and mentor for Seedcamp, the international seed funding initiative.
Don Epperson
Don Epperson is Founder / Partner of Digital Trek – a different kind of venture firm. Digital Trek invests annually in one very early-stage, internet-based opportunity that can leverage Don’s industry knowledge, operating experience and professional network. To date, Digital Trek has invested in Simpil.fi, Green Decisions and Span Local.
Previously, Don was the Global CEO of Havas Digital, the digital media arm of Havas. As CEO of Havas Digital, Don operated media agencies (e.g. Media Contacts), creative agencies (e.g. Archibald, Ingall & Stretton), a technology company (i.e. Artemis), an outsourcing company (i.e. Ecselis), and founded one of the industry’s first trading desks (i.e. Adnetik). Prior, Don was the Founder/CEO of HookMedia, which developed Artemis and was acquired by Havas in 2001.
In addition to AdSafe, Don sits on the Board of buildOn. Don helped co-found buildOn in1993 and has been fortunate enough to see it grow into a global organization of ~400 schools in 15 countries providing ~60,000 students a daily opportunity to learn – and learn about the world.
Don received his BA in Economics from Rutgers University and his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
Scott Knoll
Chief Executive Officer and President of AdSafe, Scott Knoll was most recently the founder and President of Aperture, the audience targeting and measurement technology platform that provides business intelligence to blue chip brands, agencies and online publishers. Scott has more than 18 years of global experience in Internet technology, digital advertising and traditional media. Prior to Aperture, Scott served as CEO of BlackFoot, a digital advertising solutions company. He also spent 6 years as a senior executive at DoubleClick Inc., directing the launch and development of the DoubleClick ad network in nine countries, including Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, China, Taiwan, New Zealand, Singapore, and Korea. Scott served as managing director of DoubleClick Asia Pacific and Vice President and General Manager of Global Marketer Solutions.
Previously, Scott co-founded and served as COO of Verified Person, and has held management roles at Time Warner Inc. and Andersen Consulting. Scott holds a Masters in Business Administration degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University.
Helene Monat
Helene is a Co-Founder, and the prior CEO of AdSafe. Previously, she was the President of Catalina Marketing, the first data marketing company to leverage bar scan data at scale, and one of the original behavioral targeting companies. While at Catalina, Helene led sales efforts, growing revenue from $2 million to IPO. Today Catalina has 1,200 employees in 9 countries and supports data-driven real-time transactions in approximately 50,000 stores. Catalina has been recognized by Ad Age as one of the 100 most important media companies in the world and was taken private in 2007 by Hellman and Friedman in a transaction valuing Catalina at $1.7 billion.
After leaving Catalina, Helene was recruited by Lazard Frères to turn around one of their troubled portfolio companies, MTS. As CEO, starting with a staff of five people just after the 2001 recession, Helene quickly grew MTS to $50 million in profitable revenue serving 200 pharmaceutical brands. In 2008, Helene led the transaction bringing WebMD into the firm as a minority investor.
Helene is also a Board Director for HealthiNation, a digital video media company that provides premier content videos, specializing in Heatlh, Wellness, Patient Education and Lifestyle content. Helene is on the Advisory Board of LiftDNA, an early stage company that provides Publishers with services for Revenue Optimization.
Alan Murray
Alan Murray is a partner in Coriolis Ventures, The New York based Venture and incubation fund. Coriolis supplies capital, technology and insight to early stage companies primarily in the Internet advertising technology sector. Over the past 36 months, Coriolis has participated in early stage financing rounds for companies such as Appnexus, ChallengePost, Dimestore Media, Magnetic, Jango, & Martini Media.
During this same period, Coriolis successfully incubated (providing capital, technology and staffing) fast growing startups including AdSafe Media and Media6Degrees, both “Always On Top 100” companies.
Coriolis is particularly focused on driving innovation at the convergence of machine learning and interactive marketing. The Coriolis team includes leading academics complimented by technologists who have built several of the largest scale ad-serving and database platforms on the web.
In addition to AdSafe, Alan currently serves on the board of directors of Media6Degrees and EveryScreen.
Eric Paley
Eric Paley is a Managing Partner at Founder Collective, an early stage fund started by a team of entrepreneurs that launched companies and led them through successful exits. These founders are focused on helping the next generation of great entrepreneurs build important and lasting businesses. In addition to AdSafe, Eric sits on the boards of Harvest Automation, The Trade Desk, Boundless Learning and Contently.
Previously, Eric was the CEO and a co-founder of Brontes Technologies, which was acquired in 2006 by 3M. Investors in Brontes included David Frankel (Founder Collective), Bain Capital Ventures, Charles River Ventures and Flybridge Capital Partners.
Eric is an angel investor in a number of companies including Magazine Radar, OPOWER, and TrialPay and also served as a senior advisor to Flybridge Capital Partners.
Eric was previously co-founder and CEO of Abstract Edge, a web application and marketing company in New York.
Eric graduated Magna Cum Laude, from Dartmouth College and with High Distinction, as a Baker Scholar, from the Harvard Business School.
